Trump: Israel and Iran have a "very high possibility" of reaching a protocol.
According to a report from Jin10, on June 16, local time on June 15, U.S. President Trump stated before departing for Canada to attend the G7 summit that he believes there is a "high probability" of an agreement between Israel and Iran, but he also said, "Sometimes they need to fight a war." "I hope an agreement can be reached; I think it’s time for an agreement, but we will have to see," Trump said. "However, sometimes they have to fight a war." He added, "I think the chances of reaching an agreement are very high." Trump also stated that the U.S. is "getting along very well" with Iran and remarked, "I think Israel and Iran also respect each other very much." However, when asked whether he had requested Israel to suspend airstrikes on Iran, Trump refused to respond directly, only stating: "I don’t want to say that." This notion of "letting them fight a war" is similar to the phrasing he used earlier regarding the Russia-Ukraine war—he had previously compared the Russia-Ukraine conflict to "two kids fighting in a park," suggesting that sometimes "letting them fight for a while and then mediating is more effective."
