U.S. lawmakers will hold a final vote on the stablecoin GENIUS bill on May 19.

On May 16, U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune formally filed a motion to close the debate on the GENIUS Act, which is scheduled for a vote on May 19. If passed, the bill will be the first federal legislative framework for stablecoins in the United States. Senate sources said the amendments include explicit prohibitions on the abuse of FDIC insurance and enhanced bankruptcy protection provisions to garner bipartisan support. The results of this vote will have a direct impact on the regulatory direction of the United States in the field of digital assets.
