Michaël van de Poppe, one of the recognized analysts in the crypto market, shared a very candid statement with investors in his latest video published on his YouTube channel.

Van de Poppe stated that he directed all his investments to altcoins in the summer of 2024, but this strategy did not yield the expected results and that his portfolio has currently lost 60% of its value.

"I directed my entire portfolio to altcoins in the summer of 2024. This move was a bit early. My portfolio is currently down by about 60%. My $110,000 investment is now worth $36,500."

Van de Poppe, who reminded that similar losses were experienced in previous cycles, claimed that his portfolio dropped by 80% in the previous bear market, but then experienced a 10,000% increase.

Van de Poppe stated that despite the losses he experienced, he has developed new strategies and made some changes to rebalance his portfolio. He announced that he sold his $20,000 position in the ENS token and directed that capital towards different altcoins.

The analyst, who stated that he will use a portfolio rebalancing model with monthly or quarterly periods in his investment strategy, believes that this way he can respond more effectively to market volatility.

Van de Poppe stated that the value losses experienced in altcoins are not only specific to crypto, but that macroeconomic developments also play a role in these declines, pointing out that developments such as the weakening of the Chinese yuan against the dollar increase the pressure on risky assets.

Additionally, the analyst, stating that the current market interest is at its lowest levels in the last three years, described this situation as a "clear indicator of a bear market:"

"Interest in Crypto has dropped to levels seen in August 2023. This signifies the lowest interest in the last 2.5 years."

Although the current table is bleak, Van de Poppe argued that this environment also offers great opportunities. The analyst stated that he plans to build a strong portfolio again by maintaining his strategy over the next 6 to 12 months.
