GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini have become available in ChatGPT
GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini are now available in ChatGPT
OpenAI has added GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini to ChatGPT. The latter will replace GPT-4o mini for all users.
GPT-4.1 is a specialized model focused on programming tasks and executing instructions. It features increased operational speed and serves as an alternative to OpenAI o3 for the everyday needs of developers.
Access to the model has been granted to owners of Plus, Pro, and Team paid subscriptions. It will open for Enterprise and Edu in the coming weeks.
In April, OpenAI introduced a new family of programming and instruction-oriented AI models — GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 mini, and GPT-4.1 nano.
GPT-4.1 outperforms GPT-4o and GPT-4o mini in benchmarks evaluating programming, including SWE-bench. GPT-4.1 mini and nano are more efficient and faster at the expense of some accuracy. Initially, they were only available through the API.
The company faced criticism from researchers for releasing GPT-4.1 without a safety report. They argued that the startup is lowering its transparency standards. In response, the firm noted that the models are not state-of-the-art.
Let us remind you that in the same month, OpenAI released the deceptive o3 and o4-mini.
